This morning I woke up at 4 am to catch a flight out of Joplin at 6:10 am. I've flown out of Jopin before but that was years ago before they built the new terminl. I have to say, good job Joplin, it looks great! I was flying to Baton Rouge again for only a few days. To help my brother out again. Before I forget, please excuse any errors or weird typing. I am typing this blog on a small bluetooth keyboard attatched to my iPad. Also, the app for my blog will not turn the right way so I am typing this upside down as well. Anyway, my flight to Dallas was so wonderful. I sat all alone which I like, no having to have awkward conversations with people. Shawn has never flown before so I had to take a video of the take off. After all the turbulence right off the bat, it turned out to be smooth flight. I got to see the sunrise from the plane. It was a very awesome experience. I always fly during the day so I never get to see it. I also love seeing the clouds from above. It makes me feel like I am flying over Antarctica. Please excuse my half assed makeup job. Give me a break it was 4am. You can't get on an airplane and not take a selfie! I arrived in Dallas at about 7:20, just enough time to stop at Starbucks. They messed up my coffee order, but I'm too nice to tell them. I wanted a skinny cafe mocha, I'm pretty sure it wasn't skinny. I guess it is a bad sign when one of the workers is telling a new one how to do things. Oh well, I went on to my gate. The annonouncer said there were only 13 people on the flight to Baton Rouge so therefore we didn't have to sit in assigned seats if we didn't want to. This was an easy flight as well. Pretty much the same just a bigger plane with a lot less people than the first one. Here is a picture of me trying to keep warm. You can clearly see the goosebumps on my legs. I tried to get them in the sun as much as I could. I think that was the coldest flight I have ever been on. Luckily I wore long sleeves. Today so far, I have only sat by the pool. That is basically my only plan while here. I may venture to the zoo since I get in free. For breakfast I ate a Nature Valley Oat and Honey bar and had a cafe mocha from Starbucks. When I got to my brother's house, I went and bought a salad for lunch and also had an egg. I haven't ran yet today, I plan on doing that later. Everyone have a great Sunday!

My mom and I went to check out the farmer's market in Webb City today. I have been there before, but always forget to go. I just went today to check out the selection they had. I didn't buy anything because I'm leaving on Sunday and then leaving again for vacation next Sunday. So buying produce is a bad idea. I really like their selection that they do have. Although, it is not cheaper than shopping at the grocery store, you do support local farmers which is always a good thing! I know I will be shopping here more often from now on. It is always so busy though, hard to walk around with all the people stopping and going, sometimes it is overwhelming. After the farmer's market we made our way out to my parent's new house they are building. This is their second log home, this one is smaller than the last one because it is only the two of them that will live in it. I'm pretty excited for it, it is so beautiful! I can't wait until it is done! Eating log for the past two days: 6-25-14 Breakfast: Protein shake with peanut butter Snack: Peter Rabbit Organics Veg and Fruit puree Lunch: Clif Bar energy bar Snack: Rice cake with peanut butter Dinner: We went to Mytho's with my parents for a late Father's Day dinner since I was out of town on Father's Day. We went all out, got the "flaming cheese", I ordered the Mediterranean Chicken which was superb, and we finished it off with the Smores Pie! Holy cow, that was amazing. I wasn't going to get dessert but my dad insisted on getting it! 6-26-14 Breakfast: Kashi Organic Promise Cereal and Almond milk Snack: Chocolate chia seed energy ball from a previous post Lunch: Clif Bar Snack: Carrots Snack: Rice Cake with peanut butter Dinner: I made a large salad consisting of spinach, kale, tomatoes, carrots, zucchini, onions, olives, black beans, cucumber, radishes, celery and avocado. I think I got my daily servings of veggies! Oh and a lime cilantro vinaigrette that I made that day. After run snack: Peanut butter and apple My exercise for yesterday was running 2.13 miles and I did my 30 day challenge exercises. I actually slept a lot yesterday. It felt really good to catch up. I haven't slept like that in who knows how long. I'm always awake by 8 even on my days off. It felt good sleeping a lot and I was not at all feeling guilty. Here is my outfit for the day today Friday. Dress is from Target, belt from Forever 21, white flat sandals from Target that you cant see. My next post will be from Baton Rouge again. I'm flying out early Sunday morning. My brother needs me to watch the dogs and house again for a week. So glad I get to fly this time! So my next post will be about my travels! Have a great weekend everyone! I have been trying really hard to eat extremely well before my two vacations coming up. I have learned never go to the grocery store when you are hungry. If you do, you come back with things you don't need, like this Naked Juice. Don't get me wrong, I love this stuff, but a huge bottle? What was I thinking. Of course it has fruits and vegetables in it, 100% juice, or so they say. I thought hey what an easy way to get some nutrients with my meals, so why not. This stuff is pretty good, you can't taste the vegetables much. It looks gross but tastes pretty good. Yesterday I had a hard time not snacking during the day. I was home all day and snacking wouldn't stop. I wasn't snacking on bad things, more like fruit, broccoli and my favorite cereal that I'm addicted to, thanks Kashi. I felt really bad about it but I thought hey it's better than snacking on chips and cookies. Which I NEVER keep in the house. I ended up doing my 30 day arm, butt and ab challenges at home and ran three miles. I haven't ran three miles at one time for about a month, I need to get back into it. It was a little difficult, I did go in the morning which I am not a morning runner. I get very discouraged with my running set backs. I almost feel like quitting running all together. But, I am not a quitter and I worked way too hard to quit now. Eating log for the past two days: 6-23-14 Breakfast: Protein shake with peanut butter Snack: Peter Rabbit Organics Puree Lunch: Protein shake Snack: Nature Valley Oat and Honey bar Dinner: Here is the link to what I made for dinner. http://eatingmyfeelings.com/2013/11/12/chicken-and-toasted-quinoa-bowls-with-garlic-sauteed-vegetables/. It calls for pine nuts but I left those out. This was a very good recipe. I love quinoa and vegetables together! Snack: Cheese and crackers (My mom gave Shawn an assortment of real cheese and some sea salt and vinegar chips for Father's Day) 6-24-14 Breakfast: Kashi Organic Promise Cereal and Almond milk Snack: Naked Juice drink, only 1/2 cup Lunch: Protein shake Snack: broccoli and fruit (blueberries, strawberries and mango) Dinner: Here is the link to dinner that I made. http://www.theironyou.com/2013/06/kale-pasta-salad.html. This was pretty great as well! I ran out of whole wheat pasta though, I was sad, that's the only pasta I eat. So I had to use part whole wheat pasta and then the regular pasta. I also made these little energy balls yesterday that are so good! Too bad it only made eight of them but I encourage you to make them! Although, it called for almond butter, I do not have that, I'm a peanut butter girl! http://nutritiontwins.com/coco-chia-granola-balls-2/ My real vacation is only 10 days away. I'm so excited! I can't wait. Here, we are, the first summer swim for us! My parent's don't have a pool built yet so we settle for public pools. This pool is in Columbus and I like it because it is never packed, easy to keep an eye on Jade and there is always a chair available. Plus the snack bar has great prices! We stayed for about four and a half hours, just sat in the pool and relaxed while Jade swam. Last year, she finally got the courage to go down the big slide. Now our challenge was to get her to jump off the diving board. She still would not do it, no matter what we said. Then, while Shawn and I were sitting in our chairs talking, she comes running up to us, so excited and said "I jumped off the diving board!" Shawn and I were so surprised because a few minutes ago she refused to do it. After that, we couldn't get her off the diving board. We sat there next to it and told her all kinds of jumps to do and she did them all! I'm proud of her for conquering her fears! Here we are, before the burn, ha ha. I had gotten pretty tan down in Louisiana so I thought I couldn't get burned or even more tan. Boy was I wrong, I look like a lobster. Just like any other time I burn, it is gone within a few hours. This morning there is no evidence of a burn of course. Shawn however said it hurt to even put his socks on. Nothing a little aloe and ibuprofen can't fix! Unfortunately my snacking choices were not that great here at the pool. Shawn and Jade got nachos so I had to eat a few. Forgive me, but I also took a sip of Diet Pepsi. I do not drink anything but water and I haven't had a pop in a very very long time. I broke down though and paid a dollar for a water. After swimming it was time to head off to Joplin, went to my parent's ate dinner and planned our dining choices for our upcoming vacation in two weeks. Going to be a great vacation, sitting by the pool, going to the spa during the day and eating. That is pretty much all we will be doing. I'm not complaining one bit. I've still been tracking my eating these past few days. Here is the breakdown. 6-20-14 Breakfast: I made this smoothie:/http://blog.emeals.com/banana-berry-purple-power-smoothie/ However, I did not use flax meal, I used chia seeds instead and I also used Almond Milk instead of regular milk. I also didn't make all four servings, I just cut it down to one. Lunch: Subway 6 inch turkey sandwich on wheat with all the veggies and spicy mustard. Snack: Peter Rabbit Organics Puree Dinner: I made this again because I love it and Jade loves shrimp: http://www.skinnymom.com/2014/05/02/bang-bang-shrimp-pasta/ Snack: Apple and peanut butter 6-21-14 Breakfast: Two eggs and a slice of bacon Lunch: Subway 6 inch turkey on wheat with avocado and all the veggies Snack: Rice cake with peanut butter Dinner: I made these stuffed peppers: http://damndelicious.net/2013/06/03/quinoa-stuffed-bell-peppers/ These were just okay. Shawn did not enjoy the pepper and just ate the filling. I ate it but it is a healthy version. I think it would taste much better with ground turkey and more cheese, but I don't think I will make them again just because Shawn doesn't really like cooked peppers. Snack: Shawn and I usually take one night a week to have ice cream. We both had a McFlurry from McDonalds. That hit the spot! 6-22-14 Breakfast: Two eggs, one slice of bacon, whole wheat toast with peanut butter. Lunch: Protein Shake Snacks: some nachos from the pool Dinner: Dinner at my mom's is always amazing. We had chicken, burgers, salad, veggie chips, cookies and fruit. I ate all of that except the burger. My mom's food is so good I have to eat it all! I still have been trying to run at least 1.5 miles a day. I didn't run on Friday because Jade was there and we played dolls. Saturday I ran 1.30 and on Sunday morning I got up and ran about 1.30. That was hard, I'm not a morning runner. I was so hungry my stomach hurt and made it hard to stand up straight. So that was a bad run. I don't know what it is, the weather, the humidity or just my mental block giving me a hard time with running all of a sudden. It seems like even running a mile is hard. I'm blaming it on my mental block. I tell myself I'm going to do horribly and that is what I believe. So I go out for the run and decide I can't do it well. I need to figure out how to get over that! Outfit of the day inspired by Pinterest. All black, which is my second favorite color after pink. The shirt is from Coco's here in Joplin, black skinny pants from Body Central, necklace from Charming Charlie's in Baton Rouge and of course my trusty nude wedges. I haven't said much about Duke lately. I have finally overcome the sadness even though it still hurts when I think about him. Duke and Viper were best friends. They didn't live together for the past year since Duke lived with my parents, but every time we brought Viper over, he was so excited. Him and Duke would run around the yard and play, Duke knocking Viper over with just his paw. So when I got home from Baton Rouge and got Duke's collar, I showed it to Viper. He got very excited. The excitement I always saw when he got to see Duke. He sniffed the collar and was just very happy. It made me happy but also sad in a way. He will never get to see his best friend again but he will be able to smell him. I took this picture on Saturday. A whole week after I let him sniff it the first time. He still got very excited, tail wagging like crazy. Dogs are amazing creatures, I know Viper senses that his best friend is still near. I never really knew about eating seasonally until I started eating more fruits and vegetables. It can get very expensive to eat produce that is not in season. During the winter I couldn't get strawberries for under $4.00 for a pint and now I get them for $0.98. I usually don't shop at our local grocery store because they feel the need to jack up prices on everything because they are the only store in town (not for long though, we are getting a Wal-Mart market and I couldn't be more excited. Now I don't have to drive 30 miles.) Anyway, I went to the store to get some cilantro and a lime. This is what I came back with. I got some kale, mango, tomatoes, 5 limes, cilantro and bell peppers all for $8.29. I thought that wasn't too bad considering the store I was at! Who says eating healthy is expensive? If you don't eat seasonally then yes it can get expensive. Heck, I got the kale for only $0.98 and 5 limes for a dollar, not too shabby! I'm going to try and make quinoa stuffed bell pepper this weekend, that's why I got the package of three. I was at the grocery store and the cashier was asking me about kale. I said well it can be bitter at times. He replied "well then, I will not be eating it." I thought I would never eat it either, but now that I see the nutritional value of it, I love to eat it. I mean 300% of your daily value of Vitamin A in a serving, yay! The cashier asked if I was making salsa, I said nope, just going to eat it. He said "man someone eats very healthy." I love this! My eating from yesterday: Breakfast: Kashi Organic Promise cereal with coconut almond milk Lunch: Homemade buffalo chicken wrap and some mixed berries Snack: Greek yogurt, kale popcorn Snack: Rice cake with peanut butter Dinner: Here is what I made for dinner, Cilantro and Lime Salmon. http://www.closetcooking.com/2014/06/cilantro-and-lime-salmon.html#more I also served this with a salad, Hearty Kale Salad http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/kale_salad.html After run snack: apple with peanut butter and dark chocolate chips Here is part of my snacking from yesterday. I got these at Whole Foods in Baton Rouge. It is Non-GMO popcorn with ground up kale and carrots for a coating. It was so good! I wish I could find this around here. I could eat a whole bag in one sitting. Only 39 calories for a cup, and a serving is four cups so about 150 calories for a serving! Shawn and I tried a new running route the past few days. He is always the leader so he decided to take another route. I thought it was about three miles, but I was mistaken. It was only 2.1 miles, sure felt a lot longer. We went on that route again last night after trying some new energy gel from Clif. It is Clif Energy Shot in Vanilla, 90% Organic. It tastes just like vanilla frosting, I urge you to try it if you are wanting an energy gel. However, I don't know where to buy them around here. They had them at Whole Foods but I ordered a box of 12 on eBay for $12.00. Shawn says that energy gel is what made him go a lot farther than normal. I believe it works too, I'm just a wuss and don't push myself when I run. I get too worried about getting too tired too fast. I could probably run a lot faster than I do I just have this damn mental block about getting too tired. This is my outfit for Friday. Jean day at work! Could have been jean day all week, but my dad is back from Florida. Please excuse my awful hair. I tried letting it air dry last night, slept with it in a bun and tried to straighten it this morning. Results, awful. Anyway, the shirt is from Target, it has a sheer bottom with a crocheted like top. It is very short on me, I guess that's the style now. The jeans are from Maurice's, necklace from Rue 21 and the shoes from Target. Ugh, I just noticed my toes not being painted. I haven't touched up the polish in weeks, I need to get the ball rolling and get a pedicure! Looks like I will be leaving town again next week. Flying back down to Baton Rouge for a few days. Luckily I don't have to drive this time. When I get back from there, then two days later it will be time to leave for our family vacation! I believe I have been gone more than I've been home this month! I love it though, if I could be a world traveler and money wasn't an issue, I totally would live out of a suitcase! I love traveling, but more by plane than car! :) I've been trying to get back on track with my eating and running routine. After being in Baton Rouge for two weeks, I was spoiled with not having to cook and getting things that were already cooked or going out. Trying to find dinner ideas that are low in calories has been a challenge. While I was in Baton Rouge, my mom was there with me for a few days. We roasted a whole chicken one night. We ate it for dinner and I still had most of the chicken left to eat on the rest of the week. So, Monday, I tried to do it myself. I'm to worlds worst at cutting up a whole chicken. In the end I ended up with a lot of chicken pieces for meals this week. It was pretty good for being my first time roasting a whole chicken! I think in the long run it was much cheaper to buy a whole chicken for $7, instead of buying a 5 pound bag of chicken breasts for $8. I never have time to compare prices, nor do I really want to. I have to get back on track because I will be going on vacation again in about two weeks. I know vacation is for relaxing, but I have invested too much time and energy on my fitness and health to ruin it all on vacation. I will enjoy my vacation, I will just be more mindful about what I'm eating, since I cant really calorie count when eating out all the time. I'm trying to keep track of my food but I have been slacking a bit. Once I get back into my home routine it will be much easier. Here is what I have eaten since Monday. 6-16-14 Breakfast: Protein Shake with peanut butter Snack: Mamma Chia Squeeze (Found these at Whole Foods, pretty much a squeeze pouch with chia seeds and vegetable puree) Lunch: Marketside Salad from Wal-Mart with a Peter Rabbit Organics Puree (I found you can also buy these at Starbucks!) Snack: Banana Dinner: Pieces of roasted chicken with a large salad. 6-17-14 Breakfast: Kashi Organic Promise Cereal with Coconut Almond Milk Lunch: Buffalo chicken wrap Snack: Grapes Dinner: Shawn and I went to Longhorn Steakhouse, this was our fist time to be able to go out alone since I have been back. I ordered the Spinach and Feta Cheese Chicken the Lighter Portion, with steamed broccoli and a side salad. Snack: Starbucks Iced Skinny Latte, Shawn and I stopped in Price Cutter to look at their meat selection. My sister said sometimes they have shark steaks, they didn't have any. But, now I know where to come for some crab legs! So we stopped at Starbucks on the way out. 6-18-14 Breakfast: Protein Shake with peanut butter Snack: Naked Juice, Kale Blazer as seen in the picture above. I usually love drinking these, but they do pack a lot of sugar from the fruit. It has no sugar added but I love how it has so many different fruits and veggies. Lunch: Marketside Salad and Carrots Snack: The rest of the Naked drink Dinner: Not sure yet, maybe some salmon Here is my outfit for today. Excuse the blurry picture, I was in a hurry. The dress is from Old Navy, jean vest from Deb, necklace from Charming Charlie's in Baton Rouge, and my nude wedges. I'm also embracing messy hair today. Bed head I guess you could call it. I didn't feel like straightening it at all. I'm trying to not use as much heat styling on my hair, I'm trying to get it to grow. I just want these next two weeks to go by fast, I'm ready for another vacation! Also, only 205 days until Shawn and I go on our cruise....that's a lot of days, ugh. Finally getting to post a new blog after being pretty busy the past few days. I left Louisiana on Thursday and drove about five hours to a town outside of Memphis called Batesville. After hitting rush hour traffic in Jackson, MS, I finally made it to my hotel around 8:00 pm. I'm so glad I got there when I did, it started storming really bad. The cable in the hotel went out so I decided to go eat dinner at Wendy's. I had the Asian Chicken Salad, so good! After dinner I went and used the hotel's fitness center and ran 2 miles on the treadmill. It was surprisingly very easy to run on a treadmill, it's been a long time since I had. I went to bed pretty early to get an early start on the trek home. I got up around 6 am, ate some fruit for breakfast at the hotel and then I was on my way home. Unfortunately , I hit morning rush hour traffic in Memphis, I did not plan this trip out very well! I stopped for lunch in some little town in Arkansas, and ate at Wendy's again, same salad. My mom called and said they were about 19 miles away from me, going the opposite direction. They were on their way to Pensacola, FL....lucky dogs. I watched for them and finally saw their Suburban, I stuck my hand out the sunroof and waved, small world ha ha. Traffic was pretty easy of course until I got to Northwest Arkansas, talk about hell! I know it is usually bad down there but seeing it was a Friday made it worse. I made it home to Columbus around 3pm. Stopped in to see Shawn at work, got my oil changed and all! I'm so glad to be home though. In one day I was in six states, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri and then Kansas. I love big cities, but I was happy to be away from traffic for a while. So much traffic in Baton Rouge, plus they drive like maniacs. I got out of the car, only to get back in it for a drive to Kansas City on Saturday. Shawn, me, my sister and nieces went to the Glow Run 5K at Arrowhead Stadium. We got there pretty early so we stopped to eat at Gate's BBQ, this was so good! I love good BBQ! I will be going back there next time I'm in KC. The run was not a timed run so it made it extra fun and less stressful for me! Here we are in our light up tutus and Shawn even wanted to wear one! They did free face painting and gave us a lot of glow accessories. This run was like The Color Run, they only let a certain amount of people go at one time. Thankfully we were towards the front and only waited for about five minutes. They had multiple glow stations all around the route. Since it wasn't timed, there were plenty of opportunities to stop and take pictures! This photo is of me and Shawn pre-race in the parking lot. This is mine and my sister's finish line picture! You can see us, with the extremely well lit tutus and socks! Of course, the other three, Shawn, Taylor and Abby treated this race like it was timed, so they ran ahead of us. At the finish line they gave out these huge finisher medals, we seriously got our money's worth with this race. The medal even glows in the dark. After we all downed our water we made our way to the post race party. There was music, dancing and free things being thrown. I hadn't been to a "dance party" since my clubbing years in my early 20's ha ha. We left around midnight I think and drove home. We decided not to stay in KC because Father's Day was the next day and to save some money. Shawn and I made it home around 3 am. Sunday, we celebrated Jade's birthday and Father's Day. I made a zebra print cake that tasted amazing, thanks to Shawn picking out the supplies while I was gone. We let Jade go pick out a new bike for her present. We then headed to Wasab Japanese and had the hibachi grill for dinner. Our chef was pretty good. He was trying to get people to catch shrimp in their mouths. Guess who was the only one who caught it, yep that's right, ME! I practice with popcorn. Now, I am back on track with my eating and blogging! I'm glad to be home, but I really don't want to have to start cooking again! Yesterday I went downtown to run on the Mississippi River. I loved it, so many other runners! It made me happy to see a running friendly community around here. I ran about 2.15 miles plus some running up and down the stairs that go all along the river and the levee. It was such a great view, the downtown buildings on one side, and the river on the other. Seeing the barges and ships going through was also a good thing to see. I wish I could run here everyday. I had never done up and down the stairs drills or running before, that kicked my butt, but it felt so good after! This the running trail. You can't see it but there is a casino on the left on the water. The big building you see in this picture is just the parking garage. Since I have been here I have been running at least 2 miles a day plus some strength training. My eating has still been healthy. Although, I have had some smores and ice cream some nights! My weight tends to stay the same, so I'm pretty happy. I've been eating salads for my meals the past few days. For breakfast it has been my protein shakes. Last night for dinner, I made a 6 oz salmon filet, with a large salad and broccoli. With a smore for dessert! My eating for today has been a protein shake for breakfast, lunch was at Zoe's Kitchen again for the third time. I had the quinoa salad again, I'm going to have to make this at home! Snack was some popcorn with kale that I found at Whole Foods today. I also snacked on an avocado. Dinner will be a salad with some sweet potato fries and then I am going to Baskin Robbin's! Have to get my last fix before they open the one in Joplin. Yesterday it rained all day. This is what we did. We laid around on the couch watching Orange is the New Black, and I finished the second season, I was so sad! Today I sat by the pool for the last time as well. I'm coming back pretty tan and I'm happy about that. I know, skin cancer, but hey, I've got it covered. I went to Zoe's Kitchen for lunch and sat outside, I love sitting outside while eating. I wish more places in Joplin were like that. After that I walked down to Whole Foods, again! I wanted to look at their other products besides food. I got some coconut shampoo and conditioner, vanilla mint body wash, some snacks to take with me on the road and some coconut water. I read an amazing article on Whole Foods today, I love how they have a list of ingredients they do not allow in their foods or products. No artificial anything. Love it! I also know where I'm working if I ever move somewhere with a Whole Foods. Let's just say from the article they treat their employees well, and the pay is not bad at all. Plus the discounts! After Whole Foods I stopped at Academy and broke down and finally bought my first pair of Nike Pro Shorts, in pink of course! They will go great with my light up tutu for the Glow Run on Saturday! I also got Shawn's father's day gift. I'm sure Shawn if you are reading this, you already know what it is! I'm leaving to go back home tomorrow. My time here has been enjoyable and makes me want to live here even more. Maybe when Shawn is done with school....maybe. Luckily I have the best dad in the world and he got me a hotel room to stay the night Thursday so that I don't have to drive the full 12 hours in one day. I'm so thankful that he is able to do that for me, I hate driving long distances alone anyway. My next blog will probably be written from my own home! This was the scene at dinner. Crab legs, a large salad and watching Orange is the New Black on Netflix. My brother doesn't have Netflix on his Xbox so I'm watching it on my laptop. I went to Whole Foods again so buy some crab legs for dinner tonight. I hate eating out alone so I got some to cook myself. I also picked up some salmon, Cheddar Bunnies, mixed fruit, some premade salads, some sushi and a Japanese sweet potato. That is my menu for the rest of the week until I leave on Thursday. I do plan on eating at Zoe's again and possibly Sammy's Seafood for my cheat meal! Fried oysters here I come! I didn't really do much today. I had two eggs for breakfast and for lunch I had a chicken Caesar salad wrap. I also snacked on some strawberries and some Cheddar Bunnies. Cheddar Bunnies are something I found at Whole Foods, all organic cheese crackers in the shape of bunnies. I'm addicted! This morning I sat by the pool for two hours again, I'm coming back tan! Then I went to Old Navy to find some shorts and some clothes for Shawn. I got some good deals on shirts for him, but didn't find any shorts. I did however find some I loved at Aero. Then I came back, took about an hour nap and then headed to Whole Foods. Cooked my crab legs with a large salad and a few sweet potato fries. After dinner I went to Dairy Queen and got one of their Light Smoothies, I like the Berry-Pom one. Great sweet fix without the calories! I ran 2.22 miles tonight. I had a hard time running, maybe because I really didn't want to, or because it was still 90 degrees at 8pm. So now, I think I'll settle in, watch the new episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, I know, it's a guilty pleasure I do love Khloe though, I usually watch it for her and Scott, he's so damn hilarious. I also will watch more of Orange is the New Black. Today I am so much better. Duke is still on my mind but I am getting back to being okay. I know I will be upset all over again when I go home, but at least I will have Shawn there to comfort me. Today I ventured out into the big city of Baton Rouge after two days of being a recluse. I just didn't really have to drive or the want to go anywhere. I've been very down, but I am happy to say I am slowly making my way back. I thought of Duke multiple times today. Even though I did not cry, I still felt the sting of pain in my heart. I feel if I do not cry, I don't miss him. That's not the case I guess, I just am getting better and slowly able to accept what has happened. So, for breakfast I started out my day of getting back to my usual self with half an avocado and a banana. I sat by the pool for two hours until I got way too hot. I decided to brave the day and go shopping. I went to what is called Perkin's Rowe here in BR. It is like an outdoor shopping center that is very nice. I stopped in to Charming Charlie's a store with a lot of jewelry and clothing. I picked up a necklace and a shirt for under $25.00, not too shabby. I didn't really see any other store I wanted to waste my money in, so I decided to eat lunch at Zoe's Kitchen. I have eaten here before and all the ingredients are fresh and just amazingly healthy looking. I ordered the quinoa salad. This was just simply delicious! It had kalamata olives, celery, arugula, quinoa, feta cheese, tomatoes, broccoli and onions. I could eat this every day for the rest of my life! I fully intend on going back to eat there again before I leave. Maybe I'll make another trip to Whole Foods and stop in the Zoe's Kitchen that is right by it! After braving the traffic, which was really not bad for it being Saturday, I went back to the house, sat by the pool again and read. I'm now in the process of reading "The Fault in Our Stars", I know, I have never heard of this book until the movie was made. I always like to read the book before I see the movie. I'm just about done with it and I may go see the movie by myself tomorrow afternoon. My first time going to a movie alone! I know, I'm a loser. Of course, reading a book about cancer and dying doesn't make my situation with Duke any better. Since the vet said he probably had a tumor on his spine. I did however make a stop at my favorite ice cream place this afternoon, Baskin Robbin's. I love it so much. I know we are getting one in Joplin and I will be the first in line when it opens. When I was younger, I used to get their pink bubble gum flavor, but now when I go, they never have it! I was so disappointed, but I did get this wonderful cake batter with sprinkles ice cream. Totally not in my healthy eating but all in moderation! I got a small cup anyway, my new purse looks so beautiful in this picture! I also fully intend on going back here as well before I leave on Thursday. In memory of Duke, I ordered this necklace. I felt I needed something to remind me of him everyday and something that I can wear with anything. It's not too gaudy and pretty small. It's better than the tattoo I considered getting. I talked myself out of that one. I have no more place to put tattoo where they can be covered up. I also ordered this garden statue of a German Shepherd with angel wings. I hope one day I will have a garden to put it in, for now, it will probably just sit on my front porch where I can see it when I come home everyday. Almost like he is there, watching over. For dinner I made a chicken breast with some homemade salsa, consisting of tomatoes, red onions, avocado and lime juice. I've also been eating a lot of fruits. I will get back to tracking my eating soon. It is just hard when you mind isn't all there. |
AuthorHey all! I'm Stephanie. My journey started when I weighed 200 pounds in 2011. My doctor told me to drastically change my weight or I could have a stroke. I started eating healthy and running to lose the weight. I originally lost 85 pounds! Along the way sadly, I developed an eating disorder and an exercise addiction. Fast forward to 2018, I started lifting weights and running half marathons. I now weight in at 130 after putting on much needed muscle and weight for my health. Welcome to my journey to stay healthy and tackle the tedious task of finishing my first marathon! Glad you are here! :) Archives
